Verification will come back!

It's now nearly 4 weeks since we decided to stop the support for the bot.

In this time we observed the bot-channels and DMs and seen that lots of you miss the bot's features. Also when it's now open-source, lots of users didn't found out, how to host the bot by their own. Also some days after we announced the support-end, Heroku announced it's end for free bot-hosting.

Because of that I decided to buy a new VPS-Server with 8GB of memory where I would put my current private bots.

But this favorable situation made me move on with the verification-bot and finally introduce slash commands.

I will firstly host my newest version of the verification-bot on this new server.

Public Testing will start 1st of october!

Why did you come back?

As I already wrote above, Heroku announced it's end for free bot-hosting. After that I looked for another free hosting-server for my other bots. I searched a long time until I seen, that there are no other free hosters, I trust.

After that I decided to buy a cheap VPS to host all my bots on it. This process is now done and all my bots are now moved to the new VPS.

My biggest problem with the verification bot has always been the hosting. I haven't found a better way to host the bot as cheaply as possible. With this tag I had the idea to host the bot on my new VPS as well, which worked without any problems according to previous tests. So I took the time again to continue my update to Slash Commands, which I had already started. This would now be ready for the first public tests.

New features

The bot now supports slash-commands, is now faster, crashes fewer (hopefully), has a new setup-system and some more small changes.

Test it our today and say us your opinion!

The bot is still in my server. What do I have to do now?

Not much! You don't need to switch to a new bot or reconfigure everything.

The new bot-version will use the same DB as before. We recommend to check your status using /check-verification and fix errors, if you have any.

Will the bot's code stay on GitHub?

Yes! Also when the official bot will come back, you can still get our current code on our GitHub page.

The prefix-version (before 3.0) will get moved into a second branch and will stay available to you.

The new slash-command version (3.0 and later) will get uploaded in the master-branch and updated when we have something new!

Future Plans

We plan to add lots of things to the bot in the future. We currently don't want to tell you more. Keep an eye on our announcements.

If you also have ideas, feel free to place them into our suggestion-box on Discord.

Questions?

You still have questions? No problem! Ask them on our server in the general or support channel and we will answer you!

Acknowledgements

Last but not least I want to say Thank you to everyone, who used our bot in the past and will continue use it in the future!

Also I need to thank to the guys who wanted to rewrite our codes to their own nice bot. Of cource you can still continue your work. Can't wait to see what you do with the bot!
